Why not live in Paide?

What if Paide, very small town in the centre of very small country, could be a perfect place to live for you?
Yes, for many people the place is too small - we have only one hotel (plus one hostel), one restaurant, one pub, one real caffee and a few .. let's say eateries. Here we have no night-clubs (I am not sure it that is real disadvantage), but a cinema in a"culture center", where sometimes also comic plays are put up. But sometimes we still have concerts, different sport-activities etc. And when you want to take part in something bigger, you have to drive only about 100 km on every direction to bigger towns like Tallinn, Tartu or Pärnu, because this is how small Estonia is.

Besides, here you can afford property in our old town - the environment, which is usually considered most valuable in most civilized areas in the world. Many wooden houses here are not in good order right now, but they are built 250-100 years ago, so they definately have high value in many ways and there is no need to put really huge amount of money into restoration. When you have to choose between new real-property objects without almost no infrastructure on the field and those well-built premises in the heart of the well-functioning small town, the joice should be obvious. Also, in most cases you don't just buy a house, you get also big yard, because this is how Paide has traditionally managed himself - through local, small and personal economy. Paide could be a perfect place to live in green and sustainable way and still not too isolated form the rest of the world.

There was a time about 3 years ago, when it seemed that about a half of our old town is on the sale. Now the prices are down and the market is smaller, but you can still find amazing offers.

One of them is the complex on four wooden building right in the center of the town with plot size of 1043 m2 and total area in the buildings of 476 m2. And the price is about 48 000 euros (the price is of course bargainable). As you can see, there is even a development project is drawed about the poperty (in estonian). The premises are in the very traditional centre of old down, first built in 1739-1784 by local county-doctor David Alexander. Although this particular plot is not very big, it is probably possible to use the plot next to this for a small garden for example.

There are other choices too - 6 rooms (200 m2, total are about 1600 m2) nicely renovated house in the entrance of Paide - about 82 000 euros, or very small, but very nicely renovated house also in the centre of the town for 78 000 euros. When using estonian real-property portals like www.kve.ee, choose first Järva county and then Paide and find even more good offers.

So - welocome to Paide, let's build here enjoyable and sustainable town-community! :)
